Job Duties

Central State Hospital (CSH) is a 277 bed Joint Commission accredited psychiatric inpatient facility located in Petersburg, Virginia. CSH has proudly been serving citizens of the Commonwealth since 1870, when we opened our doors as the first psychiatric hospital in the country dedicated to the treatment of African Americans. A new and modern CSH is currently under construction on the same property, with a scheduled completion date of 2027.

CSH maintains the only maximum-security treatment facility in the state (111 beds). We also have 166 beds available for individuals in the community who need inpatient care, as well as individuals in the criminal justice system. We believe that treatment should be holistic and focused on the person's individual needs, recognizing that recovery is not linear or the same for every person. Treatment modalities may include medication, evidence-based group and individual therapy, peer support, psychosocial rehabilitation, vocational training, preparation for court, and treatment for substance use.

Central State Hospital is actively recruiting for a Warehouse Supervisor to join our progressive team of leaders within the facility. The Warehouse Supervisor responsibilities include ordering, storing, selecting, shipping and monitoring usage of stored materials in the warehouse through reports generated by the Financial Management System II (FMS II). The Warehouse Supervisor is responsible for accurate inventory through spot checks, quarterly and annual inventories, and analysis of critical items reports. The position provides support to the receiving section by receiving incoming shipments of materials, equipment and supplies; resolving receipt discrepancies with Inventory Control, Procurement, support agencies, and vendors; and shipping damaged or over shipments back to vendors in accordance with vendors' instructions. The Warehouse Supervisor will pick-up , deliver and move a wide variety of materials, including hazardous materials, critical medical supplies, equipment, furniture, and supplies. Coordinate and supervise outside contract moving vendors and assist with control and management of surplus property and other warehouse functions. The position will also service as back up for mail deliveries.

Job Duties:
- Conduct performance management for all employees under supervision
- Review the FMS II stock analysis report to determine which stock items need to be ordered daily
- Review users' requisitions and accurately retrieve material requested and moved to shipping area
- Check all incoming shipments for accuracy, shortage, overage and quality (broken) items
- Ensure that a major move is conducted and completed based on user's timeline
- Deliver packages to correct department in a timely manner
- Determine if items meet Fixed Asset Accounting Cost System (FAACS) labeling requirements
- Comply with all safety rules and procedures in handling equipment
- Survey all pallet and storage areas daily to ensure compliance with OSHA standards
- Check warehouse for cleanliness and safety issues daily

KSA's required to successfully perform the work:
• Knowledge of warehouse operations, forklift usage, and the ability to perform manual labor including the ability to lift up to 70 pounds.
• Ability to work with minimum supervision and make decisions.
• Good working knowledge of computers
• Ability to perform basic math including adding, subtracting, multiplying, dividing and percentages.
• Ability to work in a team environment.
• Work in various environmental conditions; i.e. freezer/chill boxes, dusty areas, etc.
• Safety clothing and shoes are required.

Minimum Qualifications

- Certified forklift operator
- Valid Driver's license
- Basic knowledge of computer, i.e. Microsoft Programs
- Experience in general warehouse operations

- Experience supervising others in warehouse setting
