Pay

This position is an exempt position at pay grade 210.

Attendance

Non - rotating 40-hour work week, Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm; must be available to work additional hours as needed.

Overview

The Work Coordinator for Vegetation is responsible for direct management, oversight, and planning of daily operations and staff responsible for street maintenance or repair, drainage and sidewalk construction, street cleaning/ sweeping, pavement, markings, installation and/ or maintenance of traffic signs, channel and ditch maintenance, vegetation management and other activities managed by the Department; inspecting work and equipment; preparing reports and assigning work schedules; ensuring compliance with quality, construction and safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Supervises, oversees, delegates, and provides technical direction for crews responsible for the maintenance and repair of Public Works infrastructure including, but not limited to street maintenance or repair, drainage and sidewalk construction, street cleaning/ sweeping, pavement markings, installation and/ or maintenance of traffic signs

• Provides technical direction on daily operations; reviews, assigns, schedules, and monitors task/ work orders, workers, equipment, facilities, materials, and tools based on priorities; ensures production goals/ performance measures are met in a timely manner and works to increase productivity

• Controls/ secures inventory of tools, supplies and equipment

• Directs, supervises, and oversees the work site to leave premises clean and safe

• Use software and programs for budget planning, asset, resource, work, and 311/ citizen other request management

• Delivers training as needed for safety, construction specifications; ensures compliance and timeliness of work with applicable service level agreements, construction standards/ applications, Infrastructure Management Program, city ordinances, Infrastructure Design Manual, TMUTCD and other Department approved safety/ operating procedures

• Administrative duties: maintaining records and preparing reports on personnel, workflow, inventory, supplies, materials, costs; interviewing, selecting, supervising employees; developing processes and procedures in accordance with City policy; evaluations and evaluating employee performance; employee discipline per City HR policy/ procedure; safety investigations and documentation for personal injury, illness, or property damage

• Provides quality customer service; responds to inquiries and requests from residents, businesses, Executive Management, and Council

• Communicate thoroughly through verbal, written or face to face (when possible) to ensure the links are well informed of project status; coordinate with internal and external customers; attend meetings

• Maintain inventory; initiates requisitions for tools, materials, PPE, equipment, and vehicles

• Replacement of stock or parts; monitors and maintains service/ repair history of equipment; maintains the cleanliness of tools and equipment

• Reviews and provides reports/ records that assist in development of operational budgets; maximize life expectancy of equipment; conducts routine inventory based on Executive staff direction

• May be asked to perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Requires a Bachelor's Degree (BA/ BS)

• Minimum of (3) three years of experience

• A combination of education and pertinent experience may be considered

• A valid driver's license is required; successful out-of-state candidates must be able to obtain a valid Texas driver's license within 90 days of hire

Basis of Rating

Application review and the City may also conduct additional skill assessment tests, in addition to the panel interview.
