2nd Shift Maintenance Mechanic

Position Summary
The Maintenance Mechanic performs work associated with installation, inspection, and repair of plant process and facility equipment. The scope of the work includes installation, preventive maintenance and general troubleshooting and repair of all types of equipment utilized within the plant.
Primary Responsibilities:
1. Repair, alters, installs, maintains, and resets machinery and equipment. Operate and maintain plant facilities systems.
2. Uses hand and power tools as necessary in performance of duties. Also uses drill presses, lathes, milling machines, grinders, metal saws, and pipe threading machines. Make necessary minor parts to perform work, such as brackets, angles, braces, piping, rigging, etc. by using metal cutting saws, drill presses, pipe threaders, hand drills, hydraulic presses, and hand tools.
3. Repairs and replaces parts in machines and equipment by dismantling, locating defective parts and reassembling.
4. Test machinery and equipment as necessary, at intervals and upon completion of all jobs to ensure proper operation.
5. Cleans up debris resulting from repairs, installations, alterations, and lubrication of machines and equipment. Work area must be left clean and ready for production upon job completion.
6. Lubricates and performs preventative maintenance procedures as necessary or specified. Removes excess oil and grease that results from such lubrication work. Cuts threads and bends pipe and tubing, using heating torch when necessary.
7. Performs necessary basic electrical repairs, replacements, and troubleshooting on plant equipment. Also, troubleshoots electrical circuits and wiring.
8. Maintains, repairs, and installs sewer and drain lines, plumbing, and plumbing fixtures.
9. Maintains all valves and expansion joints.
10. Obtains required materials from maintenance stores and other storage areas by complying with spare parts issue process.
11. Maintains an adequate replacement part storage.
12. Maintains all rubber extrusion lines and finishing equipment.
13. Moves equipment and machinery from one location to another using rollers, trucks, chain blocks, hoists, blocks and tackles, pry bars, ropes, chains, cables, cranes, forklift trucks, dollies, and other necessary equipment. Loads and unloads equipment and machinery from trucks as necessary.
14. Work from blue prints, sketches, and specifications, as necessary, applies knowledge of shop mathematics as necessary.
15. Performs welding and brazing using oxy-acetylene, electric arc, and wire welding equipment.
16. Minimizes mechanical/electrical downtime and lost production without endangering operator or machinery through repairs.
17. Knowledgeable in all Safety Regulations and works within the appropriate standards.
18. Follows and participates in all Quality and Environmental Management System Standards.
19. Performs labor operations in accordance with the Company/Union Labor Agreement and the Plant rules and regulations.

Education and Qualifications
- Rate of Pay: $26.38
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- Journeyman's card and/or 10 years of industrial experience is required
Work Environment/Work Conditions
- Work on the manufacturing floor and Maintenance Shop Area -drives forklift
- Must wear proper personal protection equipment while on manufacturing floor.
