Job Summary . PRIMARY OBJECTIVE OF POSITION:The Accounting Manager provides the Owner, General Manager and Langham with Accurate, timely, and relevant financial data with which to manage the property.RESPONSIBILITIES AND JOB DUTIES: • Accounts Payable : Supervise A/P accountant and reviews weekly payment runs that are processed through Sun, W9 records, vendor aging, bank transfers, foreign currency transactions, etc• Banking/Cash Management: Review monthly bank reconciliations, manage cash balances, interact with Silicon Valley Bank to set up new features as needed• Maintain confidentiality of all information related accounting/payroll records. • Month-End Close : Run the Month-end close calendar, manage the US corporate general ledger and produce finished balance sheet folder and monthly reporting package• Set and maintain close calendar and meets deadlines of various financial reporting requirements• Perform Balance Sheet and P&L fluctuation analysis and monthly expense variance analysis• Review all monthly Balance Sheet account reconciliations and ensures accuracy of financial statements in accordance with GAAP and compliance to internal policies• Work with Controller on setting up finance systems for existing and new lines of business to add efficiency and support growth of business and new lines of business• Audit : Assists Controller in managing annual audit for the US side of the business and works closely with external auditors to bring global audit to close• Work closely and cohesively with the human resources and the accounting department. • Prepares month end financial statements and supporting schedules for Langham Hospitality Services.• Assists the General Manager in the preparation of annual budgets.• Performs house bank and safe audits at least monthly or more often if required.• Supervises Night Audit, Food & Beverage Cashiers, and Accounting Clerk.• Provides financial information to the Hotel Executive Committee as pertains to the making of sound business decisions.• Supports other departments to ensure compliance with policies and procedures established by Langham.• Performs special analysis as required.• Performs other duties as assigned by Supervisor. Requirement . PHYSICAL DEMANDS:• Work inside with varying hours and days.• Requires repetitive motion of hands and wrists. SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIRED:• Must have basic math skills and the ability to use standard office equipment.• Ability to effectively deal with and resolve conflict situations.• Understand financial and managerial accounting.• Must have advanced level of English language.• Must be able to read and write at an advanced level.EDUCATION REQUIRED:• A college degree in business with intermediate Accounting. • Job related experience in positions of a lesser degree may be considered adequate under certain conditions.EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:• A minimum of 2 years of Accounting/Business background, preferably in the hotel business.• CPR Certification and/or First Aid Training preferred.LICENSES OR CERTIFICATES:None needed.
