Responsibilities

Responsible for preparation of the monthly financial statements and other routine financial information for the University Business Administrators (UBA) Program at Information Technology Services (ITS) and backup for Northwest Regional Data Center (NWRDC). Assists with budget preparation, rate calculations, and other financial analysis and reporting within ITS on an ad hoc basis.
  • Performs highly specialized professional accounting work for the UBA Fiscal Operations section within ITS.
  • Prepares monthly financial statements, routine financial reports, reconciliations, and financial analysis as prescribed.
  • Responsible for routine journal entry preparation as needed for corrections, reclasses, etc.
  • Provides for good internal administrative controls to ensure accuracy and timeliness of financial information. Also serves as the backup for NWRDC financial statements reporting if needed.
  • Serves as a P-Card proxy on multiple P-Cards within ITS and backup for NWRDC if needed. This entails weekly P-Card reconciliations in OMNI to properly enter general ledger coding and receipts into the system. It also involves coordination with the P-Card holders to ensure the documentation is received timely and accurately. In addition, the responsibilities include preparing monthly P-Card electronic reconciliations in OMNI with the required backup and P-Card holder and supervisor signatures.
  • Conducts financial analyses of departmental operations and prepares regular and ad hoc financial and operational reports as necessary to ensure good business practices and financial stability. Makes recommendations to the Assistant Director of ITS Fiscal Operations for formulating financial policies within the Fiscal Operations section.
  • Assists with the development of annual budgets and financial projections by providing any necessary details or backup requested by the Associate or Assistant Director of ITS Fiscal Operations. Assists with the development of billing rate calculations for the auxiliary enterprises. Ensures ITS financial statements are in compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and federal, state, and local laws, rules, and regulations by auditing, analyzing, verifying, and performing complex financial reconciliations.
  • Monitors revenue contracts for various auxiliaries to ensure timely and correct receipts. Responsible for special project reporting for Enhanced Funding Request, one-time spend authorization projects, travel, etc. Responsible for monthly carry forward spend reconciliations and reporting.

Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree and two years of experience; or a high school diploma or equivalent and six years of experience. (Note: a combination of post high school education and experience equal to six years.)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience with concepts, principles, and practices of accounting, budgeting, and cost control procedures.
  • Knowledge of electronic data processing as it applies to fiscal and accounting activities including strong Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Experienced in compiling, reviewing, and reconciling data for accuracy, completeness, and compliance.
  • Ability to prioritize, organize, and perform multiple work assignments simultaneously in a detail-oriented environment.
  • Ability to communication effectively with different groups and/or individuals verbally or in writing.
