Job Duties

The Department of General Services (DGS) is seeking a highly motivated and qualified candidate to serve as a team member of the Fiscal Services Accounts Payable Unit. The primary responsibilities of the position are to process, review, and analyze a range of data to ensure accuracy and compliance with established procedures and policies. The position will perform fiscal and accounting duties by preparing and maintaining fiscal records and reports and ensuring all accounting transactions are processed in accordance with the Agency and Department of Accounts policies and procedures.

This position will also be responsible for processing vendor invoices and other various transactions into the financial accounting system according to the Prompt Pay Act as well as reconciling vendor statements on a monthly basis.

This position may be eligible for up to 2 days of telework per week after 6 months of satisfactory performance.

Minimum Qualifications

General knowledge of Accounts Payable process. Knowledge of basic accounting/bookkeeping or equivalent training. Demonstrated ability to perform detailed work with numerical data and to make mathematical calculations rapidly and accurately. Woking knowledge and experience of generally accepted accounting principles and practices (GAAP). Experience with analyzing and resolving discrepancies. Experience with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word). Demonstrated skill in inputting data into an automated database other than Microsoft Office. Ability to work well with others as well as independently. Ability to manage multiple work assignments within established timeframes. Working knowledge of office procedures, data entry, and record maintenance. Experience interpreting and following prescribed operating instructions and related policies, procedures, and guidelines. Excellent customer service skills. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing with internal and external customers. Demonstrated ability to research thoroughly and accurately.

Additional Considerations
  • Experience processing Accounts Payable;
  • Experience with the State's Accounting policy; and
  • Experience with PeopleSoft, eVA and Cardinal.
