The Electrical and Computer Engineering Department of the College of Engineering seeks culturally and professionally diverse candidates to apply for an Adjunct Faculty Member (open rank) position. Since its inception in 1996, the Virginia Commonwealth University College of Engineering has brought innovative, real-world engineering education to Central Virginia. Comprised of five different departments plus the Dean's office, the College of Engineering enrolls more than 1,700 undergraduate and 250 graduate students in several degree programs supported by approximately 550 full-time, part-time, and student employees. Position Responsibilities:
This adjunct position will teach undergraduate computer engineering courses at the freshman and sophomore level. Example courses include EGRE245, Engineering Programming, EGRE246, Advanced Engineering Programming, and EGRE254, Digital Logic Design. Job duties will include:
-Preparing and delivering lectures in alignment with current course-level learning objectives
-Preparing and assigning homework problems and exams related to the course
-Grading homework problems and exams and assigning final course grades
-Supervising in-person lab and recitation periods
-Collecting assessment data and sample student work, as needed
-Holding office hours; answering student questions; and providing timely responses to email, as needed
Required Qualifications:
-M.S. from an accredited Electrical and Computer Engineering or Computer Science program or related field
-Strong working knowledge of C and C++, and OOP
-Excellent written and oral communication skills
