Job Description:
New River Community College is a two-year state institution of higher education operating under a state-wide system of 23 community colleges. The college is in Virginia's New River Valley, which is also home to two public universities, and which has earned widespread recognition for the quality of life offered to residents. The Dublin campus and Christiansburg site provide modern, well-equipped facilities for the college's career and technical education programs as well as for the college transfer programs. Approximately 4,000 students comprise the student body.

The primary duties are to manage office functions for the Division of Health Professions so matters are handled in a professional, efficient, and timely manner. Maintain strategic documents and course plan files for the division. Maintain and monitor budgets for all departmental accounts in the division. Purchase supplies. Assist division faculty with instructional needs, such as book order submissions, secure desk copies and supplies, etc. and monitor faculty completion of various surveys and submission of final grades. Coordinate procurement for items requested by faculty and staff. Collaborate with division faculty and dean in the development of class schedules. Assist in credentialing for the division. Assist in the planning and coordination of division events. Assist with other administrative tasks as assigned by the dean. Assist with occasional evening events. Maintain student files.
Minimum Qualifications:
Demonstrated knowledge of general office practices and procedures. Work experience in an office setting. Excellent organizational skills, oral and written communication skills, and computer skills. Ability to work well with others in a professional manner. Flexibility and ability to meet deadlines while working effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. Ability to maintain confidentiality. Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills. Advanced proficiency with most current versions of Microsoft applications.
Preferred Qualifications:
Work experience in a team-oriented, higher education setting. Knowledge and/or experience with PeopleSoft Student Information System (SIS) or other comparable systems.
