New River Community College is a two-year state institution of higher education operating under a state-wide system of twenty-three community colleges. The college is located in Virginia’s New River Valley, which is also home to two public universities, and which has earned widespread recognition for the quality of life offered to residents. The campus provides modern, well-equipped facilities for the career technical education programs as well as for the college transfer programs. Approximately 4,000 students comprise the student body.

Duties:

Provides general administrative support to the Vice President for Finance and Administrative Services to ensure efficient operation of the department. Responsibilities include responding to phone calls, managing calendar schedules, and handling correspondence. Additional responsibilities involve entering financial data into spreadsheets, maintaining accurate records of financial transactions, and organizing documentation for audit purposes. Assists in departmental budget monitoring and collaborating with various departments, such as the business office, human resources, or procurement to gather information and support cross-functional needs. Performs other duties as assigned by the Vice President.
Special Assignments
May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.
KSA's/Required Qualifications
  • Prior experience and/or training in administrative support, preferably in a finance environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel, or an equivalent software.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy in work.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with individuals at all levels of the College.
  • Strong organizational skills with the flexibility and ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Additional Considerations
  • Prior work experience involving familiarity with accounting and budgeting processes.
