We are developing the future of Army Aviation with the Bell Future Long-Range Assault Aircraft (FLRAA) part of the US Army's Future Vertical Lift (FVL) modernization effort. We are also developing the Bell 525 Relentless and Bell's High-Speed Vertical Take-Off and Landing (HSVTOL) program, a next generation stop-fold aircraft.

This position is onsite in Fort Worth.

Aerospace Enterprise Modeling and Simulation Engineer:

The Enterprise Digital Systems department at Bell maintains cross-functional alignment and long-term strategy for tools in engineering design, manufacturing, and product lifecycle management.

Within that department, the Modeling and Simulation team focuses on multiphysics analysis and simulation tools across the enterprise, including commercial off-the-shelf applications and proprietary software development.

The team advocates for the business need of engineering analytical tools, aligns tool development with program needs short and long-term, and orchestrates evaluation of new methods and tools.

What you'll be doing as a Aerospace Enterprise Modeling and Simulation Engineer:

  • Collaborate with program engineers, competency leads, and Information Technology to complete software development projects that enable engineering tools and customizations
  • Contribute to technical oversight and organizational standards for in-house software development
  • Define business requirements and ensure technical proficiency of engineering process management and automation tools
  • Act as a thought leader in applying standard methods for validation of engineering tools
  • Evaluate and document current-state methods and tools used in engineering design and analysis
  • Engage with software suppliers and industry groups to maintain awareness of state-of-the-art solutions
  • Maintain consistent communication with engineering stakeholder groups and assist with change management tasks

Skills You Bring To this Role:

  • Experience with applied engineering computing in one or more of the following disciplines:
    • Finite element modeling (FEM) for loads and stress analysis
    • Computational fluid dynamics (CFD)
    • Flight mechanics and dynamics
    • Aircraft performance
    • System controls
  • Experience coding in C++, Python, MATLAB, or similar object-oriented programming languages used for scientific computing
  • Skills with Azure DevOps or other Git-enabled code change management tools
  • Understanding of agile software development and deployment pipelines
  • Ability to gain and maintain a US Security Clearance


What you need to be successful:

  • Bachelor's degree with a major in engineering, computer science, or an associated technical degree. Advanced degrees will be considered as additional experience. Related degrees with relevant experience will be considered.
  • 2+ years of professional experience using multi-discipline design tools MDAO for aerospace or other vehicle development applications
  • Passion for multi-discipline engineering design and collaborative problem solving
  • Comfort acting as a change agent
