Flex Work Eligible: This position qualifies for the Flexible Work Policy. Employees receive 75 workdays annually to work remotely. The initial number of days is prorated for the first year based on the start date.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION / PURPOSE:

The Simulation Software Engineer is responsible for developing simulation infrastructure and software needed by the various engineering teams to translate physical behaviors into simulation applications. You will see your software through its full lifecycle from requirements capture, to testing, through support in automated environments.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Functional & Technical Skills
  • Capture and document technical requirements.
  • Use strong STEM skills to develop high fidelity models for digital twin simulations.
  • Use robust software engineering practices to analyze, design, and implement physics-based computational models.
  • Design, setup, and execution of software tests for simulation verification and validation; includes identification of appropriate metrics.
  • Document algorithms, code design, software tests in accordance with sound software management procedures.
  • Ability to clearly articulate technical information to peers and stakeholders.
  • Review relevant academic and industrial literature to incorporate learnings into cutting-edge solutions.


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Bachelors of Science in STEM

Experience:
  • 2+ years of experience with scientific software programing
  • Or a Masters of Science in STEM

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Proficient with programming in Python
  • Hands on experience with GitHub, Bash, Unix/Linux
  • Must be able to read data, interpret results, and demonstrate good analytical capabilities.
  • Ability to scope projects including requirements capture and initial design trades given open-ended problems.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Masters of Science in STEM

Experience:
  • 2+ years of experience in developing scientific software and experience in physics modeling or emulation of real-time systems.
  • Or a Ph.D.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Strong working knowledge of math and physics
  • Object-oriented programming experience
  • Proficient in Fortran, MATLAB, JavaScript
  • Hands on experience with Docker, AWS, Azure
  • Demonstrable capabilities and experience in debugging software, testing at various levels of integration, and implementing performance optimizations.
