The Analytics Business Manager role is part of Optum's Analytics Center of Excellence (ACOE). The ACOE provides high quality deliverables and data-driven decision making through a highly scalable and innovative operating model that enables resource specialization and expands our partners' access to analytics talent, best practices, standard processes and technology. This model helps advance the strategic objectives of our partners which are both external health systems and internal operations.

The Analytics Business Manager is a key role within the ACOE. The Business Manager works closely with leadership to implement new operational processes and execute against commitments to our partners and our own organization. This is primarily a strategic support function highly focused on communication, process improvement, program management and governance. As an Analytics Business Manager you will work with partner leadership and key stakeholders as well as our Nashville-based ACOE analytics delivery and technology team members. The role will require collaboration with team members of all levels. This role is deeply engrained in the management and leadership of the ACOE and our partners. The ideal candidate will have solid executive presence and communication skills.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Support
    • Supports the development of initiatives related to analytics transformation and maturity, including long-term project plans/roadmaps alongside ACOE functional leadership and/or partner leadership
    • Builds solid working relationships with ACOE leadership and colleagues and partnership account team, partner health system stakeholders and Optum subject matter experts as applicable
    • Predicts emerging needs, collaborates with leadership, account team, and COE colleagues to develop innovative solutions to meet them
    • Organizes, prioritizes and drives critical issues and information efficiently providing key tactical support for leadership and ACOE colleagues
    • Collaborates with leadership to develop annual strategic agenda and goals, multi-year roadmaps and partnership-level reporting; manages business plans to achieve objectives
    • Practices accelerated teamwork by engaging the appropriate leaders and stakeholders to problem solve and develop action plans
  • Process Improvement
    • Supports the design and implementation of new processes, tools and governance models
    • Partners with other teams to design end-to-end processes that foster collaboration across the business
    • Standardize and drive adoption of best practices including brand guidelines and The Optum Performance System
  • Communication
    • Conducts business operations functions such as meeting coordination and facilitation
    • Contributes to creation of value stories to identify 'wins' and ROI of analytic investments and effort
    • Crafts impactful communications for internal/external executive audiences to summarize and highlight team progress and capabilities
    • Translates complex concepts and delivers messaging that can be understood by a variety of audiences
    • Creates documents such as process guides, job descriptions and training material
  • Program Management and Governance
    • Assists and communicates with leadership and ACOE colleagues in decision-making and program management, where applicable
    • Monitors progress on business plans to achieve strategic goals/roadmaps, crafts progress updates and creates status reporting throughout the year
    • Manages and tracks completion of contractual client commitments
  • Administrative
    • Team time reporting, capacity planning, staffing, and governance reporting
    • Assist in SLA reporting and tracking
    • Meeting agenda creation, taking minutes, and action item tracking
  • Goal progress tracking
    • Manages reporting of business unit financials which may include but not limited to: monthly P&Ls, team member expense tracking and forecasting, cost and productivity within dashboards and intra-organizational tools
    • Assist in onboarding/offboarding of team members which may include ordering equipment/software

Required Qualifications:

  • 3+ years in a healthcare client-service or account management role
  • 3+ years of experience designing and documenting business processes
  • 3+ years creating executive reporting and/or summaries in PowerPoint (or the like)
  • 2+ years experience working within matrixed and interdisciplinary teams
  • 1+ years of experience with vendor and / or contract management
  • 1+ years of experience with financial reporting

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience reading, understanding and interpreting sales contracts
  • Experience using collaboration and diplomacy to work as part of a matrixed, inter-disciplinary team
  • Experience with content creation, storytelling, and ability to define key takeaways for clinical, operational and financial stakeholders
  • Experience working as part of an Enterprise Program Management Office (EPMO) and/or Analytics team
  • Health system or provider experience
  • Solid competence in MS Office Suite ,basic financial modeling,
  • Proven to be self-motivated; able to manage several projects at once
  • Proven to be skilled at engaging decision-makers and stakeholders by presenting compelling real-time reports
  • Proven exceptional writing and presentation skills, including use of PowerPoint
  • Proven solid executive presence and partner-facing skills; Customer-oriented
  • Proven solid communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to build and maintain relationships

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
