Are you looking for a fast-paced and challenging position that will provide you with extremely valuable application development experience, extensive variety, and frequent exposure to managers and staff in the Information Technology (IT) Branch? The Employment Development Department (EDD) is looking for a highly motivated and qualified individual to work as a Section Chief, IT Manager I over the Application Development & Support Section (ADSS).
The section chief plans, coordinates, directs, and oversees the activities of the ADSS. This section provides development and support for the Department's Public-Facing Website, SharePoint (intranet) as well as Monitoring and Operations Support for various other critical applications. The incumbent demonstrates working knowledge of team leadership principles and practices. The incumbent is able to effectively apply this knowledge in managing teams that identify the root causes of production problems and then plans and implements appropriate technical solutions. This includes exploring, developing, integrating, and implementing IT solutions that support the Department's delivery of service and presenting proposals and results to Executive Staff.
The incumbent is expected to provide support for establishing policies, partnership agreements, and technological solutions that support integrated delivery of services. The section chief will manage a group of around 23 state staff including two IT Supervisor IIs.
This position is headquartered in Sacramento, CA may be eligible for a hybrid work schedule. The amount of telework is at the discretion of the Department and is subject to change as business needs arise. Employees are required to report to their headquarters office on their assigned in-office days. Travel expenses to and from the assigned headquarters are the responsibility of the employee On Occasion, may need to travel for training and/or meetings at other State Agencies.

Background Investigation Requirement
