Application Support Engineer

Day to Day:
Insight Global is seeking an Application Support Engineer to join one of our largest financial clients in Jersey City, NJ supporting the Global Counterparty Credit Risk Suite of Applications. This person will work closely with development partners and other technology/business partners to provide the production support of counterparty credit risk business applications. Day to day responsibilities include the following:

1. Application monitoring and health check to assure system availability and stability business applications
2. Monitoring multiple batch processes (AutoSys) to completion (Respond to and resolve feed and batch support items, Manage alerts and monitoring)
3. Production incident handling-investigating, trouble-shooting and resolving any performance issues
4. Respond to and resolve business queries for Credit Risk Space.
5. Manage user query mailbox effectively, understand the scope of team's work and ensure timely and appropriate response is provided for all user queries
6. Utilize important framework tools such as ITSM, JIRA, ITRS, etc. for both making updates and producing reports.
7. Incident management - provide timely and accurate user notifications as well as managing escalations when needed.
8. Documentation and knowledge management. Assist with metrics reporting and regulatory reporting.
9. Triage-Follow up and coordinate resolutions with various development teams.
10. Coordinate and perform Business Continuity testing and related paperwork.
Identify scope for automation to reduce manual, repeating tasks.

Required Skills & Experience

Must Haves:
- 5+ years of Production and Application support experience
- Previous working experience in a Linux/Unix environment
- Working Knowledge of Batch Releases-preferably using Autosys or Control M job schedulers
- Python/Shell/Unix Scripting experience- Someone able to write a script from scratch
- Very Strong SQL Knowledge- data analysis/manipulation (pulling, analyzing, making changes locally)
- Working knowledge of ITIL framework - incident and problem management

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

Plusses:
Financial industry experience
Working knowledge of ITRS - Geneos
Working knowledge of monitoring tools like Splunk, Dynatrace or AppDynamics
