Job Description:
Radford University seeks an energetic individual for the administrative and professional faculty position of Assessment Specialist within the office of Institutional Effectiveness and Quality Improvement. The Assessment Specialist will report directly to the Director of Academic Planning. They will be responsible for and have oversight of university-wide assessment planning and implementation process to include academic programs, general education, administrative units and academic support service units. In addition, the Assessment Specialist will:
  • Organize academic programs and co-curricular assessment planning and implementation in collaboration with faculty, department chairs, program directors, college assessment committees, and the general staff. Work with Watermark's Planning and Self Study system for organizing assessment data and reports.
  • Collect and analyze data using both quantitative and qualitative techniques to inform continuous improvements of programs and services.
  • Conduct assessment training workshops and presentations as well as provide online learning resources to faculty and staff to aid them in their institutional effectiveness activities.
  • Assist the Research Associate and the Director with QEP assessment, Student Evaluation of Faculty, and University surveys.
  • Serve as the SCHEV Assessment Liaison
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Master's degree or a combination of a Bachelors degree in an area such as education, psychology, sociology, or social sciences and equivalent experience to equal a Master's degree.
  • Proficiency in: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, survey software, statistical packages such as SPSS/SAS/R .
  • Must possess strong communication skills and the demonstrated ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously with strong interpersonal and teamwork skills.
  • Demonstrated experience working independently and collaboratively with diverse campus constituents.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Higher education assessment experience of 1-3 years.
  • Proficiency in assessment software, learning outcomes assessment and training others in assessment.
  • Experience in SACSCOC accreditation is a plus.
  • Experience coordinating the collection and analysis of institution wide quantitative and qualitative data.
