HDR is seeking an Assistant Engineering Project Manager with a construction management background with 5 or more years of experience. The successful candidate will be based in one of HDR's Denver offices. This individual will support our ongoing waste project workload including waste facility design and construction and municipal solid waste projects. Project management and solid waste engineering experience in these types of projects is desired. The primary duties of this position will include providing project and engineering task management for a wide array of waste facility design and construction projects in the Rocky Mountain Region and potentially other regions.

In the role of Assistant Project Manager, we'll count on you to

  • Plan, direct and monitor all aspects of large multidiscipline projects or medium-sized projects with high degree of technical complexity, typically involving a large project staff.
  • Manage waste and facility design projects for Federal, State, municipal, and private clients as work opportunities demand.
  • Coordinate and track action items and budgets through all phases of a facility project including strategic planning, permitting, design, construction, and closeout.
  • Receive, issue and track RFIs, submittals and other required data.
  • While not otherwise involved in project-specific work, support other project and proposal efforts, including estimating, procurement and project controls, and coordinating, expediting, and tracking construction submittals.
  • Read, clearly understand and interpret construction drawings.
  • Work with project accountants to issue invoices and monthly reports.
  • Coordinate with subcontractors and develop subagreements and manage subcontractor budgets.
  • Establish client relations and be involved in business development, marketing, contractual, design and production meetings.
  • Coordinate staffing and workload through entire project development to complete documents on schedule.
  • Implement QA/QC procedures.
  • Assist in leading a team of staff engineers in preparation of design deliverables including engineering design reports, construction drawings, technical specifications, cost estimates and construction schedules with support from HDR's national practice leads.
  • Participate in meetings with clients and regulatory agencies to resolve technical issues and negotiate remedial actions.
  • Work independently on technical tasks involving data analysis, interpreting results, and preparing technical reports, plans and specifications.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Active participation in solid waste organizations (i.e. SWANA, Recycle Colorado, etc.)
  • Local candidates preferred

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering
  • 5 years related experience
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license
  • MS Office and MS Project experience (Access experience would be plus)
