The Department of Economics in the College of Liberal Arts invites applications for a full-time tenure-track assistant professor position to begin fall semester 2025 (08/25/2025). Areas of specialization are open. The Department of Economics is committed to attracting candidates from historically under-represented groups.

The appointment will be 100% time over the nine-month academic year. Appointment will be at the level of tenure-track assistant professor depending on qualifications and experience, consistent with collegiate and University policy. Salary is competitive.

Faculty in the Department of Economics in the College of Liberal Arts are expected to maintain an active research program that includes publications, teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in theoretical and/or applied economics, and contributing service appropriate for the rank of appointment to the department, college, University, and profession.

The department's concern is the promise of individuals to develop an active program of significant research and to become an effective teacher at all levels of the undergraduate and graduate program, including frontier research at the level appropriate to a leading graduate program.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:
  • A Ph.D. or foreign equivalent in Economics or a related field is required.

Advanced ABDs may be considered for appointment at the rank of tenure-track instructor with the stipulation that the Ph.D. is conferred in the first year of the appointment.

Candidates will be evaluated according to a) the overall quality of their academic preparation and scholarly work, b) evidence of research ability, c) evidence of commitment to teaching; and d) strength of recommendations.
