Description

The School of Mathematical and Statistical Sciences at Clemson University invites applications for a Tenure-Track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor starting in the Fall 2024 semester. The position is geared towards individuals with expertise in spatial-temporal modeling, non-/semi-parametric high-dimensional regression, and with applications in climate studies or precision medicine. However, candidates with expertise and interests in emerging areas of statistics and data science will also be considered.



The successful candidate will be expected to teach courses in statistics and related areas typically covered by faculty within the Statistics and Operations Research Division of the School. Specific desirable attributes for candidates include a strong interest in collaborating with faculty members within the school and engaging in interdisciplinary work with subject-matter researchers throughout the University.

The School of Mathematical and Statistical Sciences is organized into three Divisions:



• Statistics and Operations Research: includes faculty in Applied Statistics and Data Science, Operations Research, and Statistics and Probability.



• Mathematics: includes faculty in Algebra and Discrete Mathematics, Computational Mathematics, and Pure and Applied Analysis.



• Mathematics and Statistics Education: includes faculty in Mathematics Education and Statistics Education. Lecturers (of all ranks) belong to the Mathematics and Statistics Education division.

Qualifications

Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Statistics or closely related fields. A strong record of, or demonstrated potential for, high-quality, impactful research (publications, funding support, etc.) in relevant fields is preferred.
