Description
The Clemson University School of Architecture (CUSoA) invites applicants for two non-tenure track, full-time, time-limited positions as a Visiting Assistant Professor of Architecture, with a focus in one of the following areas or combinations of these:
• Design Fundamentals (Beginning Design Studios)
• Structural Design
• Building Technology
• Design and Performance
The School of Architecture is committed to increasing diversity in its faculty and all its academic programs. Salary will be commensurate with experience and accomplishments at the assistant professor level.
The successful candidate is expected to have a research agenda, maintain research activities, and communicate their research through publications and/or other forms of peer-to-peer or public transmission. The candidate is also expected to teach an undergraduate architecture design studio and a required course or seminar in their area of expertise each Fall and Spring semester. All faculty are expected to support the operations of the program, school, college, and/or university through service on committees or other leadership roles.
Qualifications
• Applicants must hold a Bachelor of Architecture, Master of Architecture, or other accredited, professional, terminal degree in architecture, as awarded in the United States or the international equivalent. Applicants with a Bachelor of Architecture must also hold a Master or PhD in Architecture, or in an allied discipline.
• Candidates must have an established record or demonstrated trajectory of research, scholarship, and/or creative work in architecture, and have the proficiency in written and oral communication in the English language requisite for teaching and scholarship.
• Candidates must have completed AXP architectural internship (or international equivalent) or be ABD, with the completion of doctoral degree requirements by July 1 of the year employment commences.
Preferred Qualifications:
Preference will be given to candidates with one or more of the following:
• Architecture Licensure
• Advanced Research Degree
• PhD in Architecture or an Allied Discipline
• Teaching Experience
• Professional Experience
• Record of Grants, Publications, and/or Published Creative Work
• Record of Professional or Academic Service
• Other Evidence of Excellence, Recognition, or Awards in Teaching, Research, and/or Service
