Job Description
Cape Fox, subsidiary Mountain Point, is seeking a qualified Assistant Project Manager. This candidate will support day-to-day project management, including planning, coordinating, integrating, monitoring, and driving all project activities and milestones per plan; ensuring the maintenance of technical communications and business files; monitoring and reporting schedule variances from plan; appraising impact of variances; recommending and implementing corrective actions; and maintaining client communications. This position reports to the Senior Project Manager for Mountain Point, a construction company. Work will be performed primarily within the Southern United States (Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, Arkansas, Florida). General construction work will include building renovations and repairs; new construction; pre-construction services, IT and physical security upgrades; electrical, plumbing and HVAC; and demolition. Civil and utility work will focus on specific electrical and underground water infrastructure (e.g., potable water, storm, sewer) and all associated earth moving services.
The Assistant Project Manager is responsible for assisting in the planning, scheduling, organizing, directing and controlling assigned construction projects from start to finish according to schedule, specifications and budget. The employee will provide Assistant management of projects, personnel, and clients with focus on project management, personnel management/mentoring, and business development. The Assistant Project Manager provides overall direction to a project or group of projects of considerable size, scope and complexity. The employee ensures the accurate completion of all work products, proper quality control / quality assurance measures are in place consistent with corporate guidelines, and work procedures are performed in a safe manner.
The Assistant Project Manager is responsible for assisting in the management and oversight of self-perform projects and work performed by subconsultants and subcontractors. The Assistant Project Manager is responsible for assisting the overall financial performance relative to project-specific budgets. The employee will ensure the construction schedule and budget are kept in accordance too plan. The Assistant Project Manager will support the management of the Contractor Health and Safety Program (for purposes of this requirement, the Health and Safety Program is equivalent to Safety and Occupational Health Program in EM 385-1-1, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Safety and Health Requirements Manual).
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Duties include:
Primary work will be supporting construction efforts on U.S. Government contracts at military installations.
Assistant Project Manager typically work full-time in a variety of settings, predominately offices, facilities or construction sites. The work typically involves some travel and fieldwork, and the employee can be exposed to dangerous or stressful situations. The employee must use safety equipment to minimize the risk of illness or injury.
Employee must be able to work with minimal supervision, be flexible, cooperative and take initiative; work well under pressure, plan, be resourceful, and well organized; maintain an effective working relationship with co-workers and be polite and professional with the general public; maintain a professional approach towards work and a positive attitude and philosophy consistent with Company standards.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Duties include:
- Supports Space Coast Sr Project Manager or fill in for Sr Project Manager as needed.
- Assist Sr Project Manager and coordinate with
- Superintendents with tracking of contract documents and resolving field-generated questions across concurrent projects.
- Assist with Analyzing and interpret blueprints, diagrams, and other technical documents to ensure project accuracy.
- Assist in preparing project schedules based on estimated
- hours, tasks, milestones and resources to ensure meeting project criteria.
- Assist in the development of plans and monitor progress as well as budget, cost, and schedule for assigned projects.
- Coordinate with suppliers and subcontractors ensuring submittals are complete and correct prior to forwarding to government.
- Coordinate site-walks with subcontractors and government, clearly identifying the time, location, and purpose of the meeting.
- Assist with the monitoring of the safety and quality standards and inspect worksite locations to verify compliance with all applicable regulations.
- Assist Oversee with the selection and management of subcontractors and maintain regular communication with key project stakeholders.
- Actively prepare and manage the RFI process ensuring answers are received in a timely manner.
- Assist with buyouts/procurement for projects and ensure
- deliveries will be on time considering products may not be in stock and will need to be manufactured or shipped from overseas.
- Assist with coordinating project close-outs, O&M's, as- builts, and warranties in conformance with contract documents.
- Assist in the coordination and conduct final inspections with government contracting and civil engineer personnel
- Submit as-builts on finished projects
- Assist in the management of the close out process and warranty responses with Site Superintendent

Education and/or Experience
Minimum of 8 years of experience in the construction industry (preferably heavy civil)
- Five years of federal project experience or
- Eight years in supervising/ managing civil and/or construction projects
- Knowledgeable with the provisions of EM 385-1-1 "Corps of Engineers Safety and Occupational Health Requirements Manual, dated March 2024
- Bachelor's degree (B. S.) from four-year college or university in any Construction related or engineering field
- Professional registration in engineering or other is desired
- Basic computer skills required and a working knowledge of standard off-the-shelf software applications to include Primavera (P6), RMS, RSMeans and Microsoft Word, Project, and Excel
- Experience managing IDIQ/Task order projects is highly desired
- Knowledge of construction costs, scheduling, estimating and engineering principles and techniques, as well as accounting principles
- Familiar with various construction methods and materials, their characteristics, installation procedures and tolerances.
Candidate shall have or obtain the following certifications/courses within 90 days of employment
- Hazardous Material Management (HAZWOPER)
- 30-Hour OSHA Construction Training Program
- First Aid/CPR certification
- USACE, Construction Quality Management for Contractors
- Must have valid Driver's License
- Ability to obtain necessary security clearances as required by the project.
- Minimum of 5 years of construction experience with USACE, NAVFAC, or NASA.
- Proficient in understanding and interpreting contract drawings and specifications.
- Clear communication skills in both written and spoken English.
- Proficiency with software and tools, including MS Office, Teams, Primavera P6, CostWorks, Success Estimator, and Schedule Analyzer reports.
- Proficient in Resident Management System (RMS)
- Understanding of Federal contracts, bid assumptions, plans, specifications, subcontracts, and purchase orders.
- Experience in planning and scheduling processes, and ability to assist in establishing project schedules.
- Ability to interpret schedules to assist in determining extensions or acceleration due to impacts of weather, change orders, delays, etc.
- Experience in coordinating and participating in team meetings, setting key agenda times.
- Experience in developing required contractual documentation including correspondence, daily reports, weekly progress reports, drawings, submittals, subcontracts, purchase orders, payment requests, and invoices.
- Ability to coordinate and schedule submittal data in a timely manner, including shop drawings, photos, material certificates, and test reports.
- Experience in assisting project teams in coordinating with public utility companies and securing necessary permits ahead of work dates.
- Experience drafting and editing of plans (As-Builts, Paving Plans, Temporary Traffic Control Plans, etc.)
- Completed (or be able to complete) 30 Hour OSHA Construction Course
- Completed 40 Hour EM 385-1-1 Certified Site Safety & Health Course (desired)
- Must be able to effectively manage subordinate managers and professionals.
- Proven skills to identify onsite construction hazards and recommend/implement elimination, mitigation or controls
- Proven knowledge of construction equipment, methods, and processes and how to incorporate best safe practices in our daily activities
- Ability to work under deadline pressure, handle stress and deliver professional results
- Long hours and weekends may be required to meet deliverables
- Strong oral and written communication and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate with others at all levels of the organization
- Ability to travel to company work sites, as needed
- Must have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986.
- Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds.
