Position description

The Department of Molecular, Cell and Developmental Biology at the University of California, Los Angeles, seeks applicants for an Assistant Project Scientist position. This position requires a PhD in the field of biology or chemistry, and research experience in biochemistry, molecular biology, cell biology and Saccharomyces cerevisiae molecular genetics. The responsibilities include experiments analyzing RNA synthesis and processing, protein analysis (including histone modifications), yeast growth analysis, and yeast genetics. Yeast response to specific mutations and environmental conditions must be analyzed with a range of techniques including immunoblotting, protein interaction studies, tetrad dissection, ChIP/ChIP-seq, mass spectrometry, RT-PCR, and RNA-seq. Models developed using yeast as a model system will ultimately be applied to cells in culture.

Basic qualifications
The position requires a PhD in a field of chemistry (with biology research experience) or biology and research experience in molecular biology. Responsibilities include analysis of yeast cells, RNA, DNA, and protein.
