Responsibilities
The Florida State University Department of Biological Science invites outstanding applications for a tenure-track faculty position in the broad area of Evolutionary Biology at the Assistant Professor level. We seek a creative and interactive individual working in any area of evolutionary biology, including but not limited to evolutionary genomics, evolutionary theory, phylogenetics, macroevolution, quantitative genetics, population genetics, evolutionary ecology, phenotypic evolution, and the evolution of behavior. Successful candidates are expected to establish an innovative, extramurally-funded research program, such as major NIH or NSF grant funding, contribute to undergraduate teaching in evolutionary biology, and graduate education by supervising Biology PhD students, engage in meaningful service, and enhance existing strengths in our Ecology and Evolution research group. The successful candidate will be hired as an Assistant or Associate Professor, commensurate with qualifications.
Qualifications
Doctoral degree from an accredited institution or the highest degree appropriate in the field of specialization. Postdoctoral experience is preferred.

The Florida State University Department of Biological Science is an integrated group of over 55 faculty in the areas of Ecology and Evolution, Cell and Molecular Biology, and Neuroscience, dedicated to excellence in research and teaching. The broad research interests of our faculty link deep natural history with modern quantitative and molecular techniques. FSU is an R1 institution currently ranked 23rd among public universities in the US. Researchers have access to excellent core resources, including a state-of-the-art analytical laboratory; DNA sequencing, molecular cloning, and NGS library facilities; an imaging center; as well as access to the Coastal and Marine Laboratory and the National High Magnetic Field Laboratory. Additional resources include facilities for functional genomics, proteomics, flow cytometry, mass spectrometry, and computing clusters for bioinformatics.
