The University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC), College of Medicine, Department of Surgery, Division of Surgical Oncology is accepting applications for an Assistant/Associate Professor, Surgical Oncology Breast Surgeon Scientist(Academic). This is a full-time, tenure-track position and faculty rank is commensurate with experience and credentials.

This Regional One Health based breast surgeon should be a leader in the management and research of benign and malignant breast disease. The fiscal structure of the position will be split between UTROP and UTHSC. Opportunities for protected research time for funded research will be available based on credentials and experience of the applicants.

This surgeon will contribute to the programmatic development of the breast cancer service at Regional One Health. All NAPBC standards and established treatment pathways will be part of the breast cancer program at Regional One Health. Incorporating inpatient, outpatient and image guided biopsy techniques, the surgeon will be part of the future ACGME application process to develop and maintain an accredited breast surgery fellowship training program.

In addition to outstanding clinical care, the successful candidate will participate in the education of medical students, residents, and fellows. This position will provide on call coverage for the Surgical Oncology division.

Qualifications

  • MD or equivalent degree
  • Candidate must be Board-eligible/Board Certified
  • Committed to providing quality clinical care, student/resident teaching and research
  • Additional fellowship training and/or certification in Complex General Surgical Oncology or Breast Surgery is desirable.
