The Psychiatric Institute of Washington is seeking a talented and dynamic Associate Administrator - Behavioral Health to join our team of dedicated healthcare professionals!

The Psychiatric Institute of Washington provides comprehensive behavioral healthcare for adolescents, adults, and senior adults suffering from mental health and addictive illnesses. PIW is a 130 bed, short-term, acute care hospital offering inpatient, partial and intensive outpatient hospitalization, as well as specialized treatment programs for chemical dependency. PIW has an excellent reputation as an innovative hospital with caring, dedicated staff, experienced in the delivery of behavioral healthcare. Situated in the safe, historical Tenleytown neighborhood, PIW is one mile from the Tenleytown Metro stop and within walking distance to local cafes and restaurants.

Position Summary:

The Associate Administrator sets objectives, develops, plans, staffs, and directs activities of assigned departments/areas of responsibility. Assists hospital's senior leader in the operation of the hospital. May assume administrative responsibility for the hospital in the absence of the hospital senior leader. In addition, the Associate Administrator is responsible for planning, coordinating, and implementing hospital activities pertaining to regulatory compliance, legal issues, hospital licensing, hospital preparation for CARF/Joint Commission/DBHR certification, quality assurance activities, outcomes assessment, confidentiality regulations of HIPAA/CFR 42, Part 2, and medical staff privileging, credentialing and scheduling (as applicable). The Administrator reports directly to the CEO.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Participates in planning and creating the strategic, operational, service design and other organizational plans and policies to achieve the mission and vision of the hospital.
  • Guides and directs management in developing and promoting new and existing services.
  • Participates in the planning and development of departmental budgets, revenue, capital and operational expenses, sufficient number of staff, and any other plans for allocation of fiscal or other resources according to the scope of services provided.
  • Provides overall direction, coordination and evaluation of the assigned units/departments.
  • Ensures all organization activities and operations are carried out in compliance with local, state and federal regulations, Joint Commission standards and laws governing healthcare operations.
  • Maintains an environment of collaboration and cooperation among hospital departments.

Qualifications

  • Master's Degree required in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or clinical specialty
  • Clinical licensure in DC preferred.
  • At least 3 years of experience directing hospital operations on a daily basis
  • Knowledge of Join Commission, local, state, and federal laws and regulations
  • Effective written and oral communication skills. Experience communicating effectively with officials, staff and leadership
  • Excellent relationship management and collaboration skills
  • Ability to exercise complex analytical judgement in the work enviornment
  • Knowledge of general budgeting, accounting, and management skills
