ASSOCIATE PAYROLL TAX COMPLIANCE SPECIALIST

RESPONSIBILITIES

This position is responsible for contributing to the PEO Payroll Tax Compliance team by assisting in the execution of payroll tax payments and reporting, including administrative support, ongoing customer service, and data entry.

• Works closely with the Payroll Tax Compliance leadership (as assigned within Withholding, State Unemployment or Paid Family Leave) providing support to assist the team in accomplishing the tax payments and reporting.

• Prepares check requests for tax related refunds and calculates taxes due on pre-tax deduction refunds.

• Prepares accurate bank and general ledger coding of check or ACH payments for payment to tax authorities, client and/or employee reimbursements.

• Assists with a wide variety of administrative tasks on a rotational basis, including tax notices and mail processing.

• Assists PEO service providers to provide answers to client payroll tax questions escalated to the compliance team via SalesForce.

• Prepares and enters data for employee payroll tax updates in the payroll tax system.

• Provides documentation to assist clients in preparing to utilize Insperity, along with opening and close payroll related tax accounts, as needed.

• Assists with filing paperwork associated with state and local income tax deposits and returns.

• Supports Finance leadership on various efforts as needed.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assists in the accomplishment of Insperity Company goals.

• Helps other employees to accomplish Insperity Company goals.

• Performs other duties as may be assigned by supervisor.

• Participates in the Disaster Recovery plan as required.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

• Associate’s Degree in Business Administration, Finance or Accounting is required. Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Finance or Accounting is preferred.

• One to three years of payroll experience is preferred.

KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS

• Basic understanding and entry level payroll knowledge.

• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel with willingness to increase knowledge through training.

• Communicates tactfully and effectively, verbally and in writing, and maintains effective work relations with those encountered in the course of employment, familiar with modern office methods, practices, procedures and equipment, as well as filing systems and business letter writing and competent in correct English usage, grammar, spelling, punctuation and arithmetic.

• Ability to assist in operating data entry equipment; maintain and monitor employee records with accuracy and detail with narrow time limitations; maintain records, post data and make arithmetic calculations with accuracy; clerical methods and techniques relating to maintaining large filing systems accurately and efficiently.

• Ability to solve problems, following established company policy guidelines; methods and techniques relating to maintaining customer service; communicating clearly and concisely, verbally and in writing; following verbal and written instructions; working from general instructions; and maintaining effective work relations.
