Position Overview: The Staff Accountant will play a critical role in supporting the Head of Accounting and Controls and the Chief Financial Officer in managing Volo's financial operations. This position will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and contributing to the overall efficiency of the accounting department. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in accounting principles, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:
• Prepare and post journal entries for various transactions, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP.
• Support month-end and year-end close processes, including the preparation of financial statements and reports for management & business leaders.
• Perform accounts payable functions including, but not limited to reviewing invoices for accuracy, creating new vendors in the accounting system, coding invoices into the accounting system and maintaining organized records of invoices/receipts/payments.
• Perform accounts receivable functions including, but not limited to creating invoices for Volo customers, coding invoices into the accounting system and maintaining organized records of invoices/receipts/payments.
• Reconcile bank accounts, credit card statements, and other financial accounts on a monthly basis.
• Assist with the preparation and presentation of ongoing flux / variance analysis to business unit and departmental leaders across the organization.
• Help manage departmental and individual credit card expense budgets, helping to ensure ongoing compliance with company policies.
• Assist in maintaining fixed asset records, including tracking acquisitions, disposals, and depreciation.
• Collaborate with the Head of Accounting and Controls to improve accounting processes and implement internal controls.
• Assist with external audits by preparing audit schedules and supporting documentation.
• Stay updated on changes in accounting standards and regulations to ensure ongoing compliance.
• Perform ad-hoc financial analysis and reporting as needed.

Qualifications:

MUST-HAVES
• Bachelor's degree (preferably in Accounting, Finance, or a related field).
• 1-2 years of accounting experience in a professional services, corporate, or start-up setting.
• Solid understanding of GAAP and accounting principles.
• Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
• High level of integrity and ethical standards.
