Lubbock Christian University is seeking qualified applicants for an Athletic Communications Graduate Assistant beginning in August 2024. This position is an 18 to 24-month (renewable for extension past 2024-25 school term is contingent upon adherence to the policies and approval of rehire by the supervisor). Prospective candidates must be fully admitted into a degree-seeking graduate program (at LCU) to be eligible for employment as a GA at LCU. All Graduate Assistants are eligible for a tuition waiver of no more than 18 credit hours per fiscal year (July 1- June 30). The maximum number of allocated hours will be indicated in the Financial Aid Agreement, and any credit hours taken over this amount is the responsibility of the GA.

GRADUATE ASSISTANT ROLES

The selected candidate will learn and assist the day-to-day office duties, which includes the possibility to broadcast on the Lone Star Conference Digital Network, plan and create strategies for the social media team accounts and overseeing assigned sports (sport lead contact, etc). In addition, general gameday assignments with statistics and game operations will be assigned. The selected candidate should also know how to work with website maintenance, along with knowing how to work in the Adobe Suite including Photoshop, InDesign, Premiere, etc.

QUALIFICATIONS

A bachelor's degree is required with a background in journalism, public relations, communications, or related field. Having strong written and oral communication skills and an understanding of social media is encouraged. As previously mentioned, prospective candidates must be fully admitted into a degree-seeking graduate program (at LCU) to be eligible for employment as a GA at LCU.

Tuition and Fees
  • All Graduate Assistants are eligible for a tuition waiver of no more than 18 credit hours per fiscal year (July 1- June 30). The maximum number of allocated hours will be indicated in the Financial Aid Agreement.
  • Tuition beyond the allocated tuition waiver and fees are the responsibility of the GA. These must be paid on time or Student Accounts will assess finance charges and/or restrict future registration.


Housing
  • On-campus housing is provided.


Meals
  • All Graduate Assistants will receive a Meal Plan will cover 100 meals per semester .


Miscellaneous
  • All Graduate Assistants must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 to remain eligible for employment.
  • All Graduate Assistants must register for and complete a minimum of 6 hours per semester, excluding summer.
