Our client, a Houston area law firm, is looking to hire an experience Attorney to join their team that provides comprehensive legal services to residential and commercial developers and public entities, including special districts, involved in the financing and development of water, sewer, drainage, roads, parks, and other public infrastructure. This position involves providing oversight and coordination of a wide range of matters for the Firm's water district and other land development clients.
Duties and Responsibilities
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Representing special purpose districts as general and/or bond counsel
• Board meeting preparation, representation, and post-meeting follow-up
• Interacting and negotiating with local and state governmental entities regarding development and other interlocal agreements, compliance matters, elections, bond sales, construction projects, and district creation
• Drafting, reviewing, and revising documents including contracts, agreements, resolutions, orders, and real estate conveyances related to public infrastructure projects
• Construction contract review, including bond and insurance review
• Preparation and review of documents related to the issuance of public securities (bonds)
• Federal and State regulatory compliance administration

Required Qualifications
• Juris Doctor degree from an ABA accredited law school
• Admitted to and in good standing with the State Bar of Texas
• Minimum 2 years of legal experience
• Research experience in WestLaw, LexisNexis or similar software
• Excellence in public speaking (daily requirement)
• Ethical/confidential (must sign confidentiality agreement)

Preferred Qualifications
• 3+ years' experience working with Texas water districts or other governmental entities, or in real estate development
• 3+ years' experience with digital file management systems such as NetDocuments
• Working knowledge of Adobe, Microsoft Office Suite - Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Teams
• Experience with billing software such as Clio, ProLaw, LeanLaw or Bill4Time
• Working knowledge of web-based file sharing systems including DropBox, OneDrive and SharePoint

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements
In-person attendance at client meetings is deemed critical to the maintenance of client relationships and is mandatory.
Routine local travel will be required. Other minimal in-state travel, as needed.
