  • Analyze, define, tune, and debug real-time audio capture systems for forward looking products and user experiences

  • Identify and implement new technologies and techniques to improve microphone array performance

  • Learn constantly, dive into new areas with unfamiliar technologies and define key performance indicators (KPIs) for novel user experience targets

  • Define capture system architecture, algorithms, and tools with developers and coordinate their implementation

  • Evaluate and benchmark performance of third party audio capture algorithms and stay up-to-date on industry trends and advancements in microphone array technology

  • Maintain familiarity with various DSP platforms and the trade-offs of embedded implementations

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive innovative solutions for microphone array architectures across our smart glasses and AR/VR HW programs

Minimum Qualifications

  • 4+ years experience defining, tuning, and testing efficient microphone-array processing and real-time audio capture algorithms

  • 4+ years of experience defining, prototyping, and demonstrating compelling audio experiences with end-to-end audio systems including acoustics, transducers, digital interfaces, audio ICs, and DSPs

  • 4+ years experience designing and deploying objective test methodologies for consumer electronics devices and audio algorithms or features such as voice communication, voice assistant, video capture

  • 4+ years experience with audio test systems such as SoundCheck, Audio Precision, or HEAD Acoustics ACQUA and knowledge of telecommunications standards

  • Familiarity with typical DSP building blocks such as digital biquad filters, IIR, FIR, AGC, wide-band/multi-band DRC, and audio capture algorithms such as beamforming, echo cancellation, and noise suppression.

  • Experience operating independently, communicating effectively, and driving audio workstreams in a dynamic cross functional environment, from product concept to mass production

  • Working knowledge with a high-level programming language such as MATLAB, Python

  • B.Sc. degree in EE, Computer Science, Acoustics, or equivalent experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with psycho-acoustic metrics for speech quality and intelligibility

  • Familiarity with human perception of spatial sound

  • Experience with perceptual audio quality evaluation methods, designing and deploying subjective tests for audio systems

  • Familiarity with audio rendering algorithms and loudspeaker technologies

  • Experience in acoustics and consumer audio EE architecture

  • Familiarity with audio algorithm development, machine learning techniques, and/or neural network implementation
