Camera Systems Engineer Responsibilities


  • Drive innovation in imaging solutions for Meta AR and VR products.

  • Take ownership of camera system design, prototyping, development, manufacturing and system integration for AR and VR products.

  • Work with internal cross-functional teams, camera/depth module integrators and component suppliers on DFM and camera module assembly and NPI line bring-up.

  • Work with internal cross-functional teams (product design, industrial design, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, sensor technology, and program management) on characterization, test, validation and qualification of components and camera systems including image sensor, lens, electrical components and etc.

  • Work with image sensor and camera/depth module vendors to define roadmaps, priorities, and custom solutions for AR and VR products.

  • Provide camera system metrology and validation plan and instructions to internal and external design, prototyping and manufacturing groups.

  • Lead failure analysis of optical/electrical/mechanical issues during camera module development and assembly.

  • 20% domestic and international travel required.


Minimum Qualifications


  • Requires a Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics or a related field and 4 years of experience in the job offered or in an engineering-related occupation. Experience must include 4 years of experience in each of the following:

  • 1. Digital camera design and optics technology

  • 2. CMOS image sensors technology

  • 3. Analog and digital electronics including FPGA, LDO, and converters

  • 4. Reviewing camera PCB designs for final approval

  • 5. Managing high-volume consumer electronics manufacturing, testing and system assembly/integration

  • 6. Managing FOL and EOL camera assembly processes, including SMT, flipchip, wire-bonding, active alignment, and ACF

  • 7. Performing and managing image quality testing such as SFR/MTF, flat-field and dark testing 8. DFMEA/PFMEA and reliability testing of complex systems

  • 9. Defining and documenting system level requirements and defining and executing system and subsystem level tests/analysis to validate overall system performance

  • 10. Large volume data analysis and visualization using JMP or MATLAB softwares

  • 11. Collaborating across cross-functional groups and offshore partners to evaluate complex architectures and propose final design recommendation

  • 12. Managing project deliverables and schedules to meet commitments to product development teams and product launch timeline.
