Job Summary

The Department of Information Resources, Media Technology is looking to hire a full-time Audiovisual (A/V) Specialist. The position is responsible for A/V and technical support for medical lectures, symposiums, and signature celebratory events on UT Southwestern Medical Center campus wide. In this position, you will help keep presenters up to date on how lecture hall and auditorium equipment works, and will include live camera operation, live audio mixing, lighting, and in some cases, you will be adding to existing A/V environments or setting up the A/V environment where there is no existing A/V equipment. You will also need the ability to troubleshoot technical issues quickly in a high-pressure environment. For this position you must have a flexible schedule and have weekend availability. Typically, this position is Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm, with some earlier or late out times, to include weekend mornings and evenings. Since this is an entry level position, we will train you on how to perform the duties of this position to fit UTSW needs. Additionally, this role requires someone with strong interpersonal skills, works well within a team environment and has the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Education and Experience

Minimum Requirements
  • High School or college degree with 4 years' experience in the audiovisual field.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in audio engineering and A/V setup, to include Zoom.
Job Duties
  • Performs audiovisual presentation support on campus and in remote locations.
  • Interfaces computers with audiovisual systems.
  • Performs preventative maintenance and minor repair on audiovisual equipment.
  • Performs troubleshooting on audiovisual and computer presentation systems.
  • Performs audiovisual recording of lectures and special events.
  • Maintains inventory of supplies and submits requests for ordering of supplies.
  • Completes service now work orders for assigned projects and submits completed work orders for processing.
  • Assist in small installation projects Performs research into audiovisual technology and makes purchase recommendations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Advanced working knowledge of visual platforms, i.e. Zoom and Microsoft TEAMS Work requires ability to operate audiovisual equipment. Work requires skills with PC software and MAC software. Work requires good communication and customer service skills. Work requires ability to perform work of moderate complexity, which involves independent decisions concerning adherence to policy, sequence of work, or similar matters as daily requirements on job. Work requires ability to lift 75 pounds while performing maintainance and installation of equipment Work requires ability to work around electrical equipment. May involve work above ceilings, underfloor and catwalks.

Working Conditions

Work is performed in general office areas, laboratories, clinics, and hospitals.
