As our Automation Engineer, Laboratory Infrastructure, you will be part of the Drug Discovery Automation group responsible for designing, building and managing the underlying infrastructure tools that enable a fully integrated Operational model. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in laboratory infrastructure development, management, mechanical design, instrument/component building, laboratory systems integration. You will be responsible to:Design, development, and implementation of new automated infrastructureDevelop and manage QA/QC programs to maintain efficiency, accuracy and functionality of automated systems that minimizes downtown and/or failuresBuild engineering facility to support hardware repair and development Design and prototype custom devices/instruments required to support automated workflowsBuild and maintain a digital twin of the laboratory for hardware digitization effortsDevelop and maintain relationships, contracts service activities with instrument providersDevelop and maintain instrument management system that provides full transparency of instrument performance, manufacturer updates, maintenance (scheduled/unscheduled) costs and life span. Develop and manage the laboratory's maintenance budget, ensuring that all expenditures are justified and aligned with the laboratory's goals and objectives.Prepare and present technical reports, findings, and presentations to internal and external stakeholders. Location: Burlington, MATravel: <30% Who You Are:Minimum Qualifications:A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in laboratory automation development roleExtensive knowledge of mechanical design, CAD design, instrument prototyping Strong "low level" control software development (LabView, Arduino, Python, Visual Studio, C++, etc...)Strong experience with managing automated lab design and construction projects.Experience with designing maintenance protocols in an integrated laboratory environmentExcellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with customers, suppliers, and other stakeholders. Preferred Qualifications:Strong problem-solving skills Excellent trouble shooting techniquesExperience with automation project development from concept, preliminary and final design, through construction, installation and project closure strongly preferred with cost analysis.Comfortable working in an entrepreneurial environment, agile and face-paced teamsSelf-driven, results-oriented leader with proven collaborative working style
