Position Details:
• Title: Automation Engineer
• Location: Conroe, TX (40 miles north of downtown Houston)
• Travel/Schedule: You generally will work standard day-shift hours Mon-Fri
• Compensation: Target base salary can vary widely depending on your specific experience; ~$82K - $115K+ is a reasonable range,
• Bonuses/Additional Compensation: Relocation / sign-on bonus is available on a case-by-case basis;.

Position Description: As an Automation Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, testing, and implementing automated systems to streamline operations, support production, and improve efficiency. Some specific responsibilities include:
• Design, engineer, and modify existing and new moderately-complex automation equipment, tooling and applications to automate manufacturing processes.
• Direct interface with customer and machine vendor for design improvements.
• Troubleshoot PLC Controls Systems (specifically Delta).
• Establish technical manuals, drawings, models, training documentation, preventative maintenance plans and troubleshooting guides for automated equipment and automated processes.
• Understand the machine operating principle, Consequence of wear and tear parts and product defects.
• Ensure the uptime of machines through regular preventive maintenance and breakdown maintenance.
• Prepare why-why analysis & drive for permanent corrective actions.
• Give feedback to improve the design of process and equipment.
• Direct daily department activities to maximize equipment utilization and support production needs.
• Coordinate maintenance activities with other functional groups such as engineering and operations to ensure the efficient operation of the departmental function.
• Collaborate and offers input to planning, building, and maintaining the automation framework and associated processes for new products.
• Identify and drive change to ensure automation effectiveness of existing processes.
• Demonstrate an understanding of customer requirements, offer suggestions and ideas on how best to deliver automation solutions.

In order to be successful in this role you should have a strong understanding of PLCs and be very familiar with automation and robotic installation, integration and optimization. Experience with vision-based inspection equipment (Cognex/Keyence software) and pneumatics and servos is expected.
