The Biospecimen Collection and Banking Core supports cancer research by providing comprehensive biospecimen management including collection, storage, distribution, and annotation.

The role regularly requires the ability to effectively communicate. The role frequently requires the ability to move about the work environment and to position oneself to operate laboratory equipment effectively. The role requires the ability to move objects weighing up to 25 pounds and will occasionally work near moving mechanical parts. The Biospecimen Collection and Banking Core supports cancer research by providing comprehensive biospecimen management including collection, storage, distribution, and annotation.
Job Summary
- Coordinates and ensures proper processing of samples for the biorepository laboratory.
- Sets priorities for sample processing.
- Verifies data and supporting material is properly uploaded to databases.
- Trains new employees per process SOPs.
- Ensures SOPs are up to date and create new SOPs as needed.
- Maintains specimen tracking and data entry for sample processing.
- Reviews sample reports and identify specimens requiring troubleshooting or replacements.

EDUCATION / WORK EXPERIENCE
Required
- Bachelor's degree preferably in biology, chemistry, or biotechnology plus 4 years of laboratory experience; OR
- Master's degree preferably in biology, chemistry, or biotechnology plus 1 year of laboratory experience.
- Histology/microtome experience.
