The College of Education & Human Development is seeking to hire a Business Manager II.

WHAT WILL YOU DO:

This position will provide support to Middle and Secondary Education at Georgia State University.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Hires, trains, and supervises administrative staff members; coordinates the work of staff and monitors performance; and takes disciplinary actions when needed. Identifies and facilitates staff training opportunities, completes annual performance appraisals and works with individuals to establish goal plans and benchmarks that lead to advancement opportunities.
  • Initiates HR/MSS transactions and approves timecards for administrative staff in One USG; facilitates the processing of dual appointment agreements; and works with HRAC representatives to resolve all HR related issues.
  • Interfaces regularly with the Business Service Officer and other GSU personnel to coordinate operational activities to include purchasing, maintenance, construction and renovation activities for the department.
  • Manages and directs all aspects of conflict resolution for the department. Establishes and maintains employer-employee relationships that contribute to satisfactory productivity, motivation, and morale in the workplace; strives to create and maintain a positive and effective alternative dispute resolution environment; and provides quick, effective and responsive mediation of employment disputes.
  • Monitors the department's operating budgets and foundation accounts; oversees the business and financial affairs of the department; serves as final approval on the procurement of all goods and services (PantherMart, SPCW, journal entries); conducts monthly expenditure reviews; and makes corrective actions as needed; and collaborates with GSU's business services offices to oversee department reimbursements.
  • Monitors the performance of the department's grants and contracts portfolio; delegates and supervises the work of the Grants and Contracts Officer; works with faculty to make amendments to existing awards that include requests of re-budgeting and no cost extensions and negotiating budgets for new awards; and ensures certification of quarterly effort reporting.
  • Provide administrative direction and coordination in the formulation, interpretation and administration of current and long-range policies and procedures; uses varying media to effectively communicate operating guidelines to customers; regularly assess business efficiency and identify ways to improve workflow processes.
  • Works with Chair to develop and manage the annual budget and ensures adherence to operational guidelines; develops best practices to track and monitor faculty's spending to ensure compliance with budget allocations; analyzes staffing, scheduling, and other operating needs to develop financial reports that include salary projections and trend analysis (PTI and GTA) to ensure adequate funding; recommends priorities and goals for future needs; and requests budget amendments as needed to facilitate the daily business operations.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree and four years of administrative experience; or a combination of education and related experience.
