PRIMARY FUNCTION :

The IS&T Business Manager has responsibility for all budget development, financial tracking and analysis and business operations activities for a predetermined set of IS&T departments representing a share of the total $300+million IS&T capital and operating budgets and typically supporting 250-300 IS&T employees and contractors. The IS&T Business manager holds financial review meetings with the Vice Presidents and Directors of those departments and is the first point of contact for any contractor or maintenance renewals or new requests from the IS&T departments. The IS&T Business Manager and the Director of Business Operations (DBO) develop the budgets for any large capital project including tracking and financial analysis. Also, the IS&T Business Manager partners with the IS&T Business Operations and Vendor Relations Manager to provide information about contractor or maintenance requests or renewals that are coming from the Vice Presidents or IS&T Directors.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Developing IS&T budgets and financial reporting for their assigned IS&T departments, performing monthly financial analysis and projections on budgets and actual spend to ensure they are accurate and explaining differences from budget, acting as a coordinator for the financial activity of the department, and recommending accruals on a monthly basis to ensure all expense is captured in its appropriate time period.
  • Acting as point person for any contract initiation or renewals - both input of contracts and agreements into Ascent and tracking consulting, contracts, agreements by time period covered, and spend for same.
  • Interact with IS&T Senior Vice Presidents, Vice Presidents and Directors as well as the IS&T Business Operations and Vendor Relations Manager regarding vendor agreements to ensure everyone understands what is required and that requested expense is budgeted.
  • Liaison between IS&T suppliers and accounts payable to ensure financial obligations of IS&T are met
  • Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the values of Jefferson.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Admin or related field, MBA preferred.
  • 3 years in an Information Technology finance, or general procurement role responsible for budgeting, expense variance analysis, and other financial analysis. Vendor management experience preferred
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft (Outlook, Excel, Word) and electronic inventory and general ledger systems. Proficiency in Peoplesoft GL, Hyperion and Ascent preferred
