NY HELPS*:
Business Systems Analyst Trainee 1: A bachelor's or higher degree.
Business Systems Analyst Trainee 2: A bachelor's degree and one year of professional business analysis experience, which includes: eliciting requirements as the foundation for the solution to the organization's business needs; identifying solutions aimed at improving the efficiency and effectiveness of the system, business process, or product/service to fulfill the business requirements; describing in a written document what the system, process, or product service must do in order to satisfy the established business requirements; validating requirements throughout the product/system development life cycle (SDLC); and developing test plans/scenarios and logical designs, testing the scenarios, reviewing test results, identifying constraints and risks, and/or communicating with stakeholders. A Juris Doctor, master's or higher degree in a related field can substitute for one year of specialized experience.

Skilled at effective communication and interpersonal skills to build and maintain positive working relationships. Possess excellent analytical and organizational skills. Experienced in laboratory settings and with laboratory instrumentation preferred. Proficient in Microsoft Word, SharePoint, Visio, and Project.
Duties Description A Business System Analyst 1 will support the Wadsworth Center's Information Technology Group (ITG). The Center's innovative and complex laboratory instrumentation requires rapid deployment on of technical infrastructure to respond to evolving infectious and environmental threats. ITG supports the Center by providing analysis, development, implementation and evaluation of information technology projects to ensure completion of laboratory informatics processes in a timely and secure manner. The incumbent will plan and perform analysis of laboratory instrumentation and integration with existing technology infrastructure; gather information from laboratory stakeholders; review vendor instrumentation documentation; determine workflows for implementation; create documentation of future implementation state; and perform gap analysis for existing instrumentation to optimize existing workflows. Additionally, this position will develop test processes and scenarios for validation of instrumentation integration and requirements and will train lab staff on informatics processes and troubleshooting steps. This position will support new laboratory initiatives and the continual improvement of our existing technical processes across the Center, serving a wide variety of critical business and programmatic efforts. ITG collaborates with New York State's Office of Information Technology Services to build and support effective technology solution. ITG requires creative problem solvers and analytical thinkers with a technology background and business analysis.
Additional Comments Dependent upon the initial assignment or subsequent reassignment of this position satisfactory background checks may be required. Additionally, exposure to potentially hazardous substances may be involved with this position; the selected candidate may be required to wear personal protective clothing and equipment, and may undergo pre-employment and/or periodic health evaluations and receive specific immunizations. Travel between Wadsworth locations will be required for instrument evaluation and consultation.

Employees will then be afforded with all of the same rights and privileges of competitive class employees of New York State.
