Job Summary
Department-Specific Responsibilities
- Provides direct intervention and non-clinical case management to students needing support.
- Provides support and information about campus resources and the campus conduct system.
- Supports student health and safety by providing timely and appropriate referral information and addresses other university related issues as needed.
- Provides support to IUPD officers in responding to student mental health concerns or hospitalizations.
- Provides direct services and act as central point of contact for students who have experience sexual, physical or other misconduct.
- Conducts situational analysis and provides assistance and counseling to improve clients' social and psychological conditions
- Assesses safety concerns, provides an overview of campus resources, and provides immediate and ongoing assistance to students in need.
- Helps guide students through procedures for various issues (requesting grade changes, withdrawing from classes, housing concerns, academic or administrative appeals) and providing assistance to ensure that students receive interim measures.
- Assist students with establishing a support network of family, friends, and community resources and creating personal development plans
- Identifies and connects students to campus and community resources (direct or indirect referrals); accompanies students to informal or formal meetings with instructors or administrators as needed/requested
- Reviews university policies and procedures with students. Reviews procedures for investigations, judicial hearings, appeals, etc.
- Maintains case records in a secure and confidential manner, maintains statistics and administers ongoing program evaluations.
- Serves as a member of the sexual violence prevention and advocacy team, providing outreach and raising awareness about prevention and advocacy services provided by the department
EDUCATION
Required
- Bachelor's degree in counseling or social work
- Master's degree in counseling or social work
Required
- 1 year of experience working with survivors or sexual or physical assault, preferably in a counseling or advising capacity
