Students in this role fulfill various tasks in support of Career Services. Tasks include assisting students with accessing resources and digital platforms; providing coaching and peer support; helping students navigate campus resources; and assisting professional staff with general office duties such as answering phones, making appointments, and welcoming guests who visit the office.
A Career Peer is an integral part of providing career development to LU students. This position is a federal work study position that works 15-18 hours of a work week (Mon. -Fri.) during the hours of 8 a.m. -5 p.m. Students in this role support and execute various tasks in support of Career Services. Tasks include assisting career coaching and administrative staff with creation of media content for posting on Career Services social media accounts (to include Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn) and the creation of digital resources to advance students career development. Additional tasks include assisting professional staff with general office duties such as answering phones, making appointments, and welcoming guests who visit the office.

The working environment in which one will typically perform the essential functions of this position is a climate-controlled office setting. It is well lighted, and the noise level is moderate. (Define if outdoor, dusty, weather conditions, etc.)

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Creating social media content for posting on various media accounts (to include Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn).
- Developing and maintaining a social media calendar for each academic semester.
- Creating digital content that effectively engages audiences and conveys accurate messaging.
- Submitting social media content for approvals in an efficient manner. Assisting professional staff members with media projects to include creation of digital resources to convey specific career development messaging.
- General office duties.
- Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS AND CREDENTIALS
- Creation and/or management of social media content and/or digital resources that engage audiences.
- Effective verbal, written, and design communication.
- Ability to intuitively reason, analyze information and events, and apply judgment in order to solve problems of both a routine and complex nature.
- Takes initiative, highly motivated and organized.
- Graphic design and/or social media management experience.
- Examples of prior social media or graphic design work requested (i.e. via a portfolio or links to social media content).
- Regularly lift 10 or fewer pounds.
ABILITIES AND COMPETENCIES ESSENTIAL TO THE FUNCTION OF THE JOB
Communication and Comprehension
- Ability to effectively communicate both verbally , in writing, and in design to covey clear, well-articulated information..
- Ability to understand, speak, and write English in order to convey messages and correspond in an articulate and professional manner.
- Ability to edit and create various types of media (written posts, videos, interviews).
- Possess public communication skills that allow professional representation of Liberty University to a variety of business and community customers and associates.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Excellent computer skills.
Problem Solving
- Intuitively able to reason, analyze information and events, and apply judgment in order to solve problems of both a routine and complex nature.
- Occasionally required to travel to local and campus locations.
- Frequently required to sit for extended periods to perform deskwork or type on a keyboard. (If not administrative duties, such as labor, define general physical abilities.
- Regularly required to hear and speak in order to effectively communicate orally.
- Occasionally required to stand, walk, and climb stairs to move about the building.
- Handle materials, reach overhead, kneel, or stoop in order to conduct business.
- Regularly lift 10 or fewer pounds.
