Position Overview:

This position will report to the Quality Control Manager. This position will assist the organization, implementation and maintenance of a quality program that maintains the proficiency and accuracy of personnel, instrumentation and chemical methods for testing raw materials, in process materials as well as the finished product.Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure a safe workplace is maintained, based on company policies and MSHA guidelines.
  • Coordinate and perform water testing for both fresh and process water.
  • Perform routine analytical work to include coal BTU's and proximate testing, chlorine testing, insoluble residues, colorimeter analysis and the microscopic examination of clinker.
  • Maintain laboratory computers; to include hardware, networking and software. Be the first line of action when computer related challenges arise.
  • To assist with the supervision and daily operations of the quality laboratory; including process control, physical testing and analytical tasks.
  • Develop and implement standard work procedures driving safety, quality, and productivity.
  • Prepare and ensure accuracy of paperwork to document daily business as needed.
  • Ensure that all reporting staff is working efficiently and consistently with company policies, and guidelines.
  • Maintain good relationships with all internal and external contacts.


Qualifications:
  • Technical Bachelor's Degree is required; Chemical Engineering preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of laboratory and industrial equipment and/or knowledge of the cement processes are preferred but not required.
  • Previous experience in leading teams, managing and motivating teams preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong understanding of chemistry, math and engineering.
  • Proficiency with MS Office.
