CENTRAL OFFICE RECEPTIONIST QUALIFICATIONS
1. High school diploma or equivalent. :
2. Post-secondary training preferred.
3. Must meet background clearance requirements as specified by Alabama Statutes and State Board of Education regulations.
4. Work experience preferred.
5. Ability to exercise tact, good judgment, confidentially and initiative in dealing with the public and employees. FLSA STATUS: Non-exempt SUPERVISED BY: Superintendent
1. Knowledge of the operation of office communication network.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
2. Ability to speak clearly and distinctly in a well-modulated and pleasant voice, and to use correct grammatical construction and choice of words.
3. Ability to remember accurately, within a reasonable training period, the names and locations of personnel, and to understand school system operations.
4. Ability to keep records accurately.
5. Ability to react quickly and calmly in placing and receiving calls of an emergency nature.
6. Ability to operate a communication network under conditions of heavy load, calmly and efficiently.
7. Ability to greet and deal with visitors, especially those who arrive in an agitated state.
8. Ability to use technology as required to perform job responsibilities.
9. Physical and emotional ability and dexterity to perform required work and move about as needed in a fast paced, high-intensive work environment. JOB GOAL: To operate the telephone system, receive visitors, and perform assigned clerical duties efficiently and effectively. PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Receives incoming calls and makes proper connection to office requested.

2. Answers routine non-technical questions and refer other questions to proper department.
3. Directs visitors to proper offices and provide routine information.
4. Types and performs various clerical functions.
5. Posts/records and file correspondence and reports.
6. Reacts quickly and calmly in an emergency situation on the telephone at the front desk.
7. Follows attendance, punctuality and proper dress rules.
8. Ensures adherence to good safety standards.
9. Maintains confidentiality regarding school/workplace matters.
10. Meets and deals effectively with the general public, staff members, students, parents, administrators, and other contact persons using tact and good judgment.
11. Exhibits interpersonal skills to work as an effective team member.
12. Models and maintains high ethical standards.
13. Represents the system in a positive and professional manner.
14. Demonstrates initiative in the performance of assigned responsibilities.
15. Responds to inquiries and concerns in a timely manner.
16. Keeps supervisor informed of potential problems or unusual events.
17. Demonstrates support for the school system and its goals and priorities.
18. Prepares all required reports and maintains all appropriate records.
19. Participates in the training programs offered to increase skill and proficiency related to assignment.
20. Performs other tasks consistent with the goals and objectives of this position.
21. Follows attendance, punctuality and proper dress rules. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Salary, benefits, length of work year, and hours of employment shall be established by the Board's salary schedule.
