Job Description:

The experienced Cerner Ambulatory EHR Training Specialist is responsible for providing knowledge/support for the Ambulatory Computerized Electronic Health Record (Cerner PowerChart Ambulaory) functionality and workflow processes to Clinical Staff and Physicians in the Ambulatory Practice settings. The Training Specialist will work collaboratively with users of clinical information systems, functioning as key clinical liaison between both clinical and non-clinical areas and as well as with all departments within the client's IT department. This role functions under general supervision.

Responsibilities:
  • Deliver classroom Instructor Led Training for the Electronic Healthcare Record (EHR) application (Cerner).
  • Provide initial/ongoing education, training for Ambulatory EHR applications and workflow process to ambulatory Clinic Colleagues and Physicians.
  • Provide Individual training, Over-the-shoulder support & Virtual training.
  • Communicate/education system changes to end users.
  • Maintains visible presence in ambulatory clinics and ongoing support by rounding in clinics on a scheduled basis.
  • Design, develop, implement and evaluate training plans, curriculum, and methodology.
  • Prepare instructional aids and training plans.
  • Determine training objectives and goals specific to the site and training event as directed.
  • Formulate training outlines and determine proper instructional methods by utilizing knowledge of specified training needs and effectiveness of such methods.
  • Coordinate and/or perform administrative functions necessary to deliver and document training programs.
  • Set up classrooms, training materials, and required handouts.
  • Assess the training needs of end users and modify current training materials and techniques for individuals needing accessibility/accommodation.
  • Acts as a liaison, providing daily support to EHR applications users through troubleshooting, coaching, and consulting in the EHR or general procedures.
  • Documentation includes the writing of new and revised procedures to support the workflows.
  • Rolls out new workflow.
  • Assess and troubleshoot user-reported problems in a timely manner, adhering to client service level agreements (SLAs).
  • Develop test scripts, policies and procedures.
  • Assist and support go live implementation of projects, applications and upgrades.
  • Summarize observations, issues, new processes and assists with development of options, recommendations and plans to improve end-user workflow process.
  • Assist with optimization projects as assigned.
  • Participates in system testing as needed and other department tasks as assigned.
  • Participates in data migration as assigned.
  • Adhere to version control processes.
  • Owns their portfolio of solutions by keeping abreast of enhancements, patches, and upgrades and ensuring that these are communicated to HIT leadership and implemented timely.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs):
  • Strong knowledge in PowerChart Ambulatory and related functionality.
  • Excellent oral, written, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, and multi-tasking skills.
  • Strong work ethic, team and customer service orientation, proven dependability and promptness.

Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent work experience in a related field and.
  • 2 to 5 years experience with Cerner EMR, either as end user, trainer, or analyst.
  • Experience with PowerChart Ambulatory required.
  • Experience developing Cerner functionality curriculums, job aids, quick tips and newsletters.
  • Background experience in classroom style training, and one-on-one training.
  • Previous Healthcare Industry Experience Preferred.
  • Experience in an ambulatory clinic or clinical setting preferred.
  • Nursing experience a plus.
