Cerner Surgical Services Applications Analyst

Job Description:

The Cerner Surgical Services Applications Analyst is responsible for reviewing, analyzing, and modifying programming systems, including encoding, testing, debugging, and installing to support an organization's application systems. The Analyst's primary goal is to support our clients with system break/fixes, system changes and enhancements, and ongoing system maintenance, which can include system testing, troubleshooting, and issue management. Provide technical application(s) support across multiple environments with a primary focus on Cerner Millennium SurgiNet and Anesthesia Management and related functionality. Strong troubleshooting, issue resolution, communication and teamwork skills are required. This position works under general supervision.

Responsibilities:
  • Maintain and support Cerner Millennium Surgical Services suite of products on and off normal scheduled shifts (troubleshooting, updates, fixes and project support, on-call).
  • Responsible for the build, modification, evaluation, testing and maintenance of Cerner Millennium Surgical Services suite of applications including but not limited to: SurgiNet, Surgical Scheduling, Anesthesia Management and Supply Chain to name a few.
  • Troubleshoot system issues to resolution and provide timely and high-quality customer service.
  • Escalate issues to vendor as needed and monitor vendor tickets for resolution.
  • Provide after-hours "on-call" support to troubleshoot and resolve system issues.
  • Work with client users and functional teams as needed.
  • Adheres to change management process for break fix and any system changes.
  • Performs system testing to ensure that all product functions work as designed.
  • Assist in documenting detailed description of user needs, program functions and steps required to develop or modify computer programs.
  • Documents all build activities in conjunction with updating vendor provided applications specifications and perform integration and unit testing; adhere to version control processes.
  • Experience collecting user requirements, translating to system feature enhancements, and requesting enhancements of a system administrator.
  • Ability to evaluate and analyze EHR features and functionality for problem resolution.
  • Provide support for the correct operational and clinical processes aligned with client's best practices.
  • May exercise independent judgment to determine the appropriate course of action to be taken based on the analysis performed and all possible solutions.
  • Successfully engages in multiple initiatives simultaneously.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Cerner build, testing and implementation experience.
  • 2 to 3 years of application analysis and coordination experience, OR five (5) years of professional/technical experience in health care involving clinical workflow/operations or clinical systems support preferred.
  • Experience with Cerner Millennium SurgiNet, Anesthesia Management, Surgical Scheduling required.
  • Experience supporting and participating in Cerner upgrades a plus.
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills, with the ability to communicate resolutions to customers.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent client, vendor, project team, and employee relationship skills.
  • Well-developed analytical, problem solving, and multi-tasking skills.
  • Strong work ethic, team and customer service orientation, proven dependability, and promptness.

Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent work experience in a related field.
  • 2 to 3 years in a professional capacity within a computing environment, with a demonstrated progression in responsibilities and experience.
  • 2 to 3 years of experience build, maintenance, support and troubleshooting of Cerner Millennium SurgiNet, Anesthesia Management and Supply Chain.
  • Working knowledge of surgical services processes.
  • Cerner certifications a plus.
  • Experience utilizing ticket management system ServiceNow preferred.
  • Previous Healthcare Industry Experience Preferred.
