Charge Nurse (RN) - Medical Surgical

Position Summary

The Charge Nurse works collaboratively with the staff of the Surgical Care Center to provide oversight and direction for the delivery of Safe Patient and Family Centered Care to all patients on the Surgical Care Center. The Charge Nurse assumes a front line leadership role in the day to day operations of the Surgical Care Center. He/She possesses exceptional communication skills and provides guidance, support, and assistance to the Surgical Care Center staff.

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

Education: Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing.

License/Certifications: Current/Valid License in the State of Maine as a Registered Professional Nurse. Current BLS Certification. Current ACLS Certification. Crucial Conversations Certification (or obtained within 1 year of hire). Current PALS (or obtained within 1 year of hire).

Experience: Minimum 1 year Surgical care Experience.

Articulates elements of professional practice and demonstrates:

• Knowledge of Evidence Based Practice and Patient and Family Centered Care
• Understanding of teamwork and collaboration
• Effective verbal/written communication skills
• Knowledge of process improvement and sound safety strategies
• Competence with computer applications
