Position Summary:

American Roller Bearing is currently seeking CNC OD Grinder for its facility located in Morganton, NC working evening shift (3pm-11p). A successful machine operator values safety, quality, productivity, and customer service. Primary responsibilities as a machine operator would include: machine set-up, machine operation, including programming, machine adjustments, part measurement, troubleshooting, problem solving and teamwork.

Essential Job Duties:
  • Read shop drawings for product specifications such as dimensions, tolerance, and number of parts to be ground
  • Selects grinding wheels, regulating wheel and programs depending upon profile of roll
  • Mounts grinding wheel and regulating wheel on spindles and dress to specifications
  • Selects and adjusts programs to control grinding speeds and feed rates
  • Aligns part, starts machine, and observes operations
  • Verifies size dimensions and shape with proper inspection equipment and adjust if necessary
  • Work with engineering and inspection to create new and develop existing processes
  • Work Inspection Equipment that is required for CNC OD Grinder
  • Finish the O.D. by changing the program diamond, grinding position and feed rate as necessary
  • Check roundness, chatter, finish, size, and taper to precise specifications and/or profile
  • Setup on straight, spherical, and tapered rolls
  • Operates machine daily producing a productive, quality product as quickly and efficiently as possible while maintaining safety requirements
  • Properly follows all ISO guidelines and computer system functions
  • Maintain work area and equipment in a clean orderly condition
  • Make sure all safety requirements are being always met
  • Will be required to perform other duties as requested, directed, or assigned

Education
  • High School Diploma or GED

Experience
  • The minimum length of time required to attain quality and quantity standards of assigned work under normal supervision is six months up to twelve months

Skills
  • Must having working command of the English language, and be able to communicate orally and in writing (basic oral instructions, simple written memos, and instructions)
  • Must be able to read and interpret shop drawings, follow routers, use simple math to perform basic calculations (plus decimals and fractions), and use basic handheld measuring tools
  • Basic knowledge of machining procedures
  • Good mechanical aptitude
  • Must be self-motivated
  • Good computer skills
  • Have a good knowledge and understanding of Company policies

Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to frequently lift/push/pull objects that are up to 25 pounds. The use of a hoist is required for heavier weight over 25 pounds
  • Constant standing to set up and observe machine operations (cycle time approximately 1 minute)
  • Requires continuous mental and visual attention with 100% inspection

Required Personal Protective Equipment:

All associates are required to wear protective eyewear, hearing protection, and slip resistant, steel-toed shoes at all times while on the plant floor.
