Summary: The Department of Art at New Mexico State University is seeking a full-time College Assistant Professor in Studio Foundations with a 2D focus.

Classification Summary:The Department of Art at New Mexico State University is seeking a full-time College Assistant Professor in Studio Foundations.

Classification Standard Duties:The Department of Art is housed in the new state-of-the-art Devasthali Hall and offers BA degrees in Studio Art and Art History, BFA degrees in studio art and museum conservation, an MA degree in Art History and an MFA in Studio Art. NMSU also offers a Graduate Certificate in Museum Studies. Facilities include include traditional drawing, painting, graphic design, photography, sculpture, metals, ceramics and include digital tools in 2D and 3D design and fabrication, including, ink jet printers, C&C machine, laser cutters, water jet cutter, digital embroidery, 3D printers, 3D ceramic printer, risograph, decal printers, along with two Mac labs.

Required Education, Experience, Certification/License, Equivalency

An expertise in 2D design, photography, graphic design, 2D digital practices; demonstrated proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop software and expertise in a range of digital and traditional, contemporary methods and materials, and critical issues related to art across a variety of media required. Preferred ability in video, 3D digital design and fabrication, and familiarity with contemporary art history and theory.

Required qualifications include an M.F.A. in Studio Art with an emphasis in studio arts; a minimum of two years of university-level teaching experience beyond graduate school; an ability to work with undergraduate and graduate students in a cross-media foundations program; oversight and maintenance of digital output labs, a capacity for overseeing an area budget; and a willingness to work with a diverse faculty and student population.

The Department of Art at New Mexico State University is seeking a full-time College Assistant Professor in Studio Foundations. Responsibilities include, teaching an annual 4/4 course load (eighteen contact hours per week); advising undergraduate students; lab oversight and maintenance, service to the department, college, university and profession, and outreach.
