Responsibilities

  • This position is responsible for gaining community engagement based on research findings to help promote health education.
  • Facilitate community engagement and participation for heath research. Supports the implementation of research studies including participant recruitment and data collection to engage community members and organizations. Point of contact for information regarding FSU College of Medicine and UF-FSU CTSA to interested communities. Provides research findings and program outcomes to communities. Participates in outreach efforts to raise community awareness to increase understanding and promote trust in research and researchers. Provides guidance on health behaviors and offers referrals/follow up to health care and social services resources including providing culturally appropriate health education and training to increase health literacy. Facilitates access to community and health resources and assist community members and stakeholders in utilizing these services and resources, while continuously expanding knowledge of resources and services.
  • Maintains positive, collaborative relationships with FSU investigators, community members, stakeholders, study participants, etc. Educates investigators, healthcare providers, and stakeholders about community needs and the challenges they face. Works to bridge cultural, socioeconomic, institutional, and other barriers between community and academic partnerships in regard to community-engaged research. Supports the collection of community activities and partnerships across FSU.
  • Maintains up-to-date records of community member contacts and partners via a distribution list. Keeps record of events and study-related documents. Analyzes community feedback and outcomes to enhance engagement with vulnerable populations.
  • Responds to requests in timely manner.

Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree and four years of experience; or a high school diploma or equivalent and eight years of experience. (Note: a combination of post high school education and experience equal to eight years.)

  • Experience in building and sustaining community partnerships to foster collaboration.
  • Experience in research methodologies, design, implementation, and management.
  • Experience in communicating with cultural competence.
  • Experience in adhering to ethical business practices and promoting ethical behavior.
  • Experience in communicating effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Experience in developing and implementing policies, procedures, goals, and objectives.
  • Experience in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.
  • Experience in evaluating processes effectiveness and developing change or alternatives.
  • Experience in strategically planning and serving as a catalyst for organizational change, cultivating a shared vision with others, and motivating others to transfer vision into action.
  • Knowledge of and ability to analyze, interpret and communicate data and research findings.
  • Knowledge of and ability to utilize REDCap and other database management software.
  • Familiarity with SQL and other coding languages.
  • Knowledge of and ability to support research and researchers with project management.
  • Knowledge of and ability to interpret and apply related federal, state, and local laws, ordinances, rules, and regulations.
  • Knowledge of and the ability to interpret and apply related University policies, procedures, principles, and practices.
  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of event planning and ability to coordinate, organize and evaluate meetings and/or events.
  • Skill in assessment and treatment of persons from diverse populations.
