Center for Leadership in Disability/Mark Chaffin Centers for Healthy Development

The Center for Leadership in Disability in the Mark Chaffin Centers for Healthy Development, School of Public Health is seeking a sponsor funded Community Services Specialist III to carry out the day-to-day student support and success of the IDEAL Program.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Assist students to understand and master skills required to meet workplace and higher education expectations
  • Work with students with IDD, their families, and IPSE program staff to support student success
  • Support and train undergraduate peer mentors to provide support to program students in the classroom, vocational settings, and in other program activities.
  • Attend state and regional meetings on behalf of IDEAL
  • Attend trainings to understand current and emerging trending in IPSE, supported employment, and job development for persons with I/DD
  • Provide training and consultation to educators and community members to support IPSE implementation
  • Work with employers and potential internship sites to develop meaningful employment experiences for program students
  • Develop job shadowing and job skills training activities with on-campus entities that will be provided to program students on a continuous and rotating basis
  • Pair students with employment opportunities
  • Provide direct support to students and employers at job sites as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree and three years of related experience; or a combination of education and related experience.
Preferred Hiring Qualifications:
  • Clinical rehabilitation counseling certification and experience working with students with disabilities
