The Continuous Improvement Engineering Specialist I is responsible for the implementation of operational process improvements utilizing the Generac Manufacturing System (GMS) across the value stream in a manufacturing or distribution facility. The Continuous Improvement Engineering Specialist I provides hands on execution of the lean principles (Value Stream Mapping, Kaizen, 5S, Standard Work, Line/Cell Design, Single Piece Flow, Material Flow, Visual Management, SMED, TPM, Root Cause Problem Solving, etc.) and tools to eliminate waste in all operations functions.

On occasion the incumbent may be required to stoop, bend or reach above the shoulders. The employee must occasionally lift up to 25 pounds. Specific conditions of this job include are typical of frequent and continuous computer-based work requiring periods of sitting, close vision and ability to adjust focus. Up to 10% domestic travel.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Lead the implementation of continuous improvement initiatives utilizing Lean principles (Value Stream Mapping, Kaizen, 5S, Standard Work, Line/Cell Design, Single Piece Flow, Material Flow, Visual Management, SMED, TPM, Root Cause Problem Solving, etc.) and the GMS.
- Develop, document, and implement standard work to provide a basis of continuous improvement.
- Guide facility team members in the implementation of Lean principles and tools.
- Other Duties as assigned and the following: Participate in the implementation of standards and programs with the corporate Continuous Improvement team. Participate in the implementation of facility strategic plans and initiatives. Facilitate the flow of information sharing of best practices and external benchmarks.
Minimal Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Operations Management, or related field OR equivalent experience in a manufacturing environment
- 1-year Continuous Improvement or Lean Engineering experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- 1 year of demonstrated implementation experience in Lean principles
- Lean, Operations or Supply Chain Certifications
- Demonstrated experience in flow principles, Kanban, and plan for every part (PFEP)
- Demonstrated experience in project leadership with a diversity of team skills
