Position Information

This position will work in a variety of different areas. Managing both internal staff and external contracts to meet the workplace needs of the TxDOT Dallas District employees. From contract writing to working hands-on in the field, this is not a typical TxDOT position.

Position Description

This position will be responsible for managing the facilities of the Dallas District. This includes the District Headquarters, area offices, and maintenance offices. The employee will be responsible for managing the internal work, contracted work, and the budget for this team. Prioritizing work is paramount, as is leading the team. This position is going to be a customer service like position for ensuring that all employees have a safe, comfortable, and efficient place to work.

Essential Duties:

  • Serves as the principal contract liaison between agency management, contractors.
  • Develops, writes, revises and/or prepares, procurement documents, change orders, work orders.
  • Develops short and long-term strategies and goals for the administration of assigned contracts.
  • Manages and assigns work orders using TxDOT software.
  • Routine maintenance and repairs of HVAC, plumbing, landscaping, painting, and other items as needed.
  • Provides advanced technical and administrative support to include reviewing, processing of contracts.
  • Serves as a lead worker to TxDOT employees by serving as a resource for complex questions
  • Oversees the audit of payment invoices for completeness, accuracy and compliance with terms.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Finance or related field. Relevant work experience may be substituted for degree on a year per year basis . Substitutions for Minimum Qualifications

Experience: 5 years in contract administration, administrative support, bookkeeping or accounting. Related graduate level education may be substituted for experience on a year per year basis.

Licenses and Certifications:

      • Valid driver's license. This position requires driving a state vehicle.


Competencies:

  • Communicate effectively
  • Contract negotiation, development and management methods.
  • Contract writing and specifications.
  • Proficient skill in using FAMIS system or similar software.


Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

  • Will require lifting items up to 50 lbs. Working outdoors for extended periods.


Conditions of Employment:

  • Must be available on call after hours for emergency situations.
